The BR 798 railbus, originally class VT 98, belongs to the legendary West German Uerdinger Schienenbus family. It was built mainly between 1955 and 1962 to provide economical, flexible services on Deutsche Bundesbahn's regional and branch lines. Two engines, each rated at 110 kW, powered the railbus to a maximum speed of 90 km/h. Its bright red livery and characteristic sound earned it the nickname Roter Brummer. Many vehicles survive on heritage railways.
