The six-axle electric BR 151 was developed for heavy freight traffic on Deutsche Bundesbahn as a successor to class 150. A total of 170 units were built between 1972 and 1978. Its continuous power rating was 5,982 kW and its maximum speed was 120 km/h. These sturdy locomotives hauled long, heavy freight trains through industrial regions and along Germany's main lines for decades.
