History and interesting facts: Bzmot 117
The lightweight two-axle Bzmot railcar, now classified as MÁV class 117, is a familiar symbol of Hungary's branch lines. The Czechoslovak Vagónka Studénka works supplied 205 cars to MÁV between 1977 and 1986. With simple construction and 40 seats, they were well suited to lightly used regional services. They could also haul trailer cars and are affectionately known as Bézé or Piroska.
